The DI-Bot
This is our robot. It is about 14 in. long, 9 in. wide, and 8 in. tall. In the picture below you can see the internal wiring and design. It is controled by two remote control servos.
A servo is a motor that doesn't continue turning, it stops after one complete turn. When you put the switch on the control all the way to the opposite side it makes another complete turn but in the opposite direction. So when the switch is in the middle it stops halfway between the two stoping points. One servo does the steering and the other is the switch for the motor. The motor is connected to a small gear box, which has an axle running through it to the two wheels. This robot has only three wheels to make the robot have a better turning radius. The front turning wheel is connected with a bracket to the servo. The large orange plastic piece on the front has a magnetic strip in it. The magnet is there to push magnetic marbles out of confined places. With the magnet we can be sure that they won't fall off. That is a rough outline of our awesome DI-Bot.
